World Environment Day

On this World Environment Day I wish to draw attention to the following facts:

Every year, more than 6 billion kilograms of garbage is dumped into the oceans. Most of it is plastic that is toxic to marine life.

North Americans send 9.5 million tonnes of clothing to the landfill every year.

The average American person throws away 37 kilograms of textiles annually. In Canada, the average person throws out 81 pounds of textiles annually.

Earth is getting hotter every year. According to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius. This year summer itself Rajasthan (State in India) crossed 50° degree Celsius.

Simple 2 things we can implement to protect our mother earth are:

1) Consume sensibly and responsibly. Be it food / water / clothing / material. Simply you purchase doesn’t approve your right to waste.

2) Plant a tree. If you are getting married plant tree. If it is your birthday plant a tree / If it is your child birthday give sapling as a return gift. Find an excuse to plan a tree. Because what you inhale they exhale and what they exhale you inhale. It is a constant relationship between us and the tree. If this was in everyone’s experience, would anyone have to tell us to plant and protect trees?

Do your bit in saving our environment.
