  • Interlay raises $6.5M to accelerate Bitcoin DeFi interoperability. Interlay is developing infrastructure for decentralized financial apps on multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Cosmos and Polkadot.
  • Opera to integrate with Polygon, opening DApp ecosystem to 80M users. Browser-crypto integrations have become a major theme as blockchain developers prioritize ease of use in onboarding new participants.
  • Metaverse Tokens bounce back in Christmas recovery. Nakamoto Games, Decentraland, The Sandbox, and Gala Games are among the Metaverse and GameFi tokens leading the recent market uptick.
  • Decentralized Exchange Volume surpasses $1 Trillion in 2021, Uniswap leads the pack.
  • Adam White is set to depart Bakkt and is walking away with millions of shares.
  • Thailand has rescheduled the trial date for its national digital currency from Q2 2022 to a later date.
  • Nakamoto Games launches Cat Planet. It’s the second Christmas Day and the $NAKA Team keeps pushing. Two days ago Nakamoto Games launched the Escape pre-view, yesterday they started their Christmas Campaign and today another game rolled out. Over 100 games will be launched in 2022.

  • Crypto com partners with Los Angeles Angel City Football Club. The exchange said the partnership was aimed at encouraging financial education, independence, and financial empowerment for women.
  • Crypto exchange Kraken acquires non-custodial staking platform Staked. Kraken said its staking business had grown by more than 950% since the beginning of the year to reach $16 billion in November.
  • Binance joins fresh crypto hub by Dubai World Trade Centre. Binance will assist crypto exchanges and businesses to become licensed in Dubai in cooperation with the local government.
  • Polygon sets new All-Time High amid market recovery. The Ethereum scaling solution topped out at $2.66 earlier today.
  • Binance plans to replace the quarterly burn of its native token with a new procedure called BNB Auto-Burn.
  • US lawmaker planning to introduce comprehensive crypto bill in 2022. Cynthia Lummis’ proposed bill reportedly aims to provide regulatory clarity on stablecoins, guide regulators around asset classes and offer consumer protections.
  • Bakkt president Adam White announces departure from digital asset platform. The now former president did not reveal what his next move would be, or whether he would continue to work in the cryptocurrency industry.
  • Terra hits record $20B TVL, surpassing Binance Smart Chain. Terra becomes the second biggest DeFi chain in terms of total value locked after Ethereum.
  • Baidu’s Metaverse App will not support digital assets as tech giant exercises caution. Baidu’s metaverse app might take more than five years to develop but it will not feature cryptocurrencies.
  • Centralized crypto exchanges saw over $14 trillion in trading volume this year.
  • The year 2021 has been an eventful one for the crypto market. Awareness of BTC and crypto grew significantly, as did adoption. 
  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that the country’s cryptocurrency law is ready and will be submitted to parliament without delay.
  • Indian police commissioner issues a public warning against crypto frauds.
  • Institutional crypto custodians raised more than $3 billion in 2021.
  • Binance gets the green light from Canada and Bahrain. If the Bahrain application is approved, it will be Binance’s first regulatory approval in the Middle East and North Africa region.
  • Terra’s UST becomes first decentralized stablecoin to hit $10B market cap.
  • FTX exchange floats $1M prize for banks to accept stablecoins. Stablecoins like USDT are under scrutiny in the United States, with some lawmakers calling for greater regulatory oversight of the industry.

  • Terra hits record $20B TVL, surpassing Binance Smart Chain. Terra becomes the second biggest DeFi chain in terms of total value locked after Ethereum.
  • The Dogecoin Foundation is working with Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin alongside other projects to create a PoS-based community staking system.
  • E11EVEN Partners, the brand behind the famous disco club in Downtown Miami, the E11EVEN Voda, and the E11EVEN Hotel & Residences, purchased Ape #11 of the Bored Ape Yacht Club for 99ETH.

  • Sequoia China leads $25M equity round for DeFi wallet DeBank. Co-founded in 2018 by Chinese R&D expert Tang Hongbo, DeBank allows users to track 798 protocols across 17 chains.
  • Ready Player Me, a startup letting users create a single avatar for use across virtual platforms, announced Monday that it raised $13 million in Series A funding.

NFT

  • NFT gaming generated $2.32B in Q3 2021. A report published by the Blockchain Gaming Alliance shows that nonfungible token games generated billions in revenue in the third quarter.
  • Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs catch up to CryptoPunks, flips floor price. The two most traded nonfungible token collections vie for the top spot in sales with BAYC in the lead, according to OpenSea.
  • Global search interest for NFT surpasses crypto for the first time ever. Cointelegraph Research predicts that nonfungible token sales could eclipse $17.7 billion by the end of 2021.
  • Kraken’s NFT Marketplace could let users borrow funds against CryptoPunks. In a recent interview, Kraken CEO Jesse Powell outlined his vision for the crypto exchange’s incoming NFT marketplace.

Others

  • Justin Sun to fly to space on Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin Rocket Next Year. The Tron founder revealed on Twitter that he was the anonymous bidder who paid $28 million to fly to outer space with Jeff Bezos in July.
  • PwC Hong Kong purchases land plot in The Sandbox. The specific plot of land and asset price are unknown at this time, though PwC Hong Kong has divulged early intentions to enter the space.
